Halloween Day 2011~

I am struggling with my studies now. My spirit of study still haven't recover after a full of 7 months of work & holiday. I am wasting a lot of time to day dreaming. If I fail anything in the future, the only person that I should blame is myself. About Halloween, it is not a main celebration/event in my country although got some places use the Halloween theme as their business marketing. Furthermore, even some universities and colleges organized a Halloween Night Party to let the students to enjoy. I am wondering when is my university will organize this kind of party, instead most of the time organize those night dinners that only sit, listen to some speeches, eat, watch some bored performances? I think it will be not so soon since my university is a conservative type. Anyway, I would like to wish the readers a

Happy Halloween~~

I hope you won't get chase by any 'thing' tonight~

183th Post~

This post is my blog's 183rd post and it is same with my height which is 183cm. A lot of people said I so tall but I do not think so. Still got a lot of people are taller than me. There are pros and cons to be tall. Be grateful with your height. You have a good and healthy body. Protect it. Love it. Its already a month past for my final year studies. The road that I face now is getting harder to walk. Although next few days will be a public holiday and most of the students will going to skip their classes before and after the holiday. But I do not have time to celebrate. More works need to be done and I need to use my free time to do my revision before the tests come. There was a lecturer reminded students in the class that 'Understanding' is really important. I agree with him because if I understand the theories, I can remember it longer than I memorize it. The lecturers are teaching fast. It means that more things need to read and understand. Next week, I will going to face Triple Tests >> T.T I hope my revision will sufficient for me to do it well. Meanwhile, I haven't start my first progress report for my project. I'm still searching some books and journals to find information my project. My laboratory testing was not smooth on last Thursday. There was an error occurred on an apparatus. It took 3 hours for me to calibrated the apparatus and it gave me a frustration moment. Next day, it was much better. I know the flow how to do it. Now, I understand how the seniors felt last time. Everyone looked fatigue, rushed their works and finished it on time. During their convocation, they smiled and laughed so happily. It was like a priceless moment for them. When I see the juniors, some of them are pampered. I hope they will learn how to be independent when they do their internship during their third year of studies. Just now, I managed to watch the final match of Rugby World Cup. The team that I supported won the cup even though the margin is merely 1 point only. I almost get heart attack when the opponent almost win it. It was worth to watch them to win. I hope I will win my battle soon~

14th & 15th October 2011~

I was so exhausted on the last two days ago. On the first day, I need to take some samples with my classmate at a place. We were lucky because our supervisor accompanied us to get the sample. He helped us to arranged an appointment with the person in charge there to collect the samples. We reached at the place around 10.30am. Almost 5 years I didn't go there. The place changed a lot. We met the person in charge and he treated us a second breakfast meal. I was shocked that he is a high rank manager and I felt 'paiseh' to eat free meal from him. During the conversation, he told us that university's life is the most best during our life and I agree with him. After the meet, he asked his supervisor to fetch us to some places to collect the samples. I was so excited when I reached at the first place. I saw a lot of fresh things there and I even can smell the fresh air of the place. It was a wonderful experience when we handled the materials. For the second place, it was a prohibited place. I was fortunate that I entered there with permission. The view was so nice. I wish I can stay there. After the samples collection and lunch, we rushed back to the laboratory to start our testing. We reached back at 4.30pm. The laboratory was so hot. The air-conditioning was not function at all. It just blow the hot air in to the room. My laboratory skill was not good at all. My supervisor was willing to stay back, taught & helped us to test the samples. I would like to thank him for helping us throughout the night. Worked until 11pm. It was so tiring. I skipped my dinner to finish the test. Now I can feel like an engineer, do the test until forget to eat dinner. After the laboratory works, I went back to my apartment. I met my ex-roommate & housemate. I had a good time to chat with them until late night. I only slept for three hours. On the second day, I went to the hall and to help my lecturer to help out the convocation preparation. It was my first time to see the whole process of the convocation in my university. It was so protocol & messy. I saw some of my senior wore the graduation robe. After the convocation, I managed to met my seniors and had photographs with them. They looked so happy. I had two feelings at that time. First I was happy that they managed to graduate after 4-5 years for hardship. Another feeling was my time will come. Next year convocation will be my turn. I can't wait for the time to come. But now, I need to walk through the first road that filled with thorns. I hope I have enough strength to make this through.

First Week of October 2011~

WARNING: LONG POST! PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE HIPPOPOTOMONSTROSESQUIPEDALIOPHOBIA~

September 2011 ended well. I like the first week of October because one of the days is my Big Day. I had a gathering with my former college Taekwondo friends at SP on the first day of October. It has been 2 months we didn't meet. All of them are working now except me. Not only them, most of my same age friends are now working. I don't know what to say. I should be lucky because I am still a student or I am late to start my working life? But one thing for sure, my real test is just started. I can feel the pressure in my brain. My study life is getting harder each day. It is good to have a gathering with the old friends because at least, I manage to get some updated information about their personal or working life. I was happy to received a gift from my best buddy. It was a good gift and I will use it during the formal day. Thank you Apple! Next day was just a normal day for me. It was a relaxing day for me. I had a fine dinner with my family before I went back to my university. It was a great dinner until my stomach was bloated. When I reached my hostel, I need to clean up my house again. Sometimes, I feel bored to do the house chore by myself. But I have no choice. I don't like my house to be dirty. It was a lone night for me in the room. I don't have the mood to start to find information for my project. the only thing I done was to browsed my Facebook, Twitter and also the Youtube to watched some videos before I sleep. I went out and jogged around my campus during the night for the first time in the new semester. I need to improve my stamina for the next run in November. I saw some of the some of the students were hanging the banners on the road side. The student election is coming soon. But I still cannot feel the election fever, compared to last year one. Next day, I went to the office to meet my project supervisor. My supervisor told me that my project is one of the most easy to do among other students. It is a good news for me? Or it is a bad news for me? During my first class, my lecturer showed a sample of bitumen for the students to see and my classmates managed to tease me with the sample and the name of the sample is Marshall Cake. Nice name with the look of it. When my lecturer asked me for my assistance to solve the projector's problem on the lecture hall stage, some of my classmates wanted to sing a song for me. But luckily, I managed to stop them because I don't want the whole class know that today is my big day. The last class of the day was a bored class for me. There were too much of words that I need to read. It was raining during the evening time but it stopped after the class ended 15 minutes later. Went back to the hostel with my classmates, groomed ourselves for the night dinner. I planned a dinner with some of my classmates together during that night. Thanks to one of my classmate who helped me to book the place to eat. It was my first time to held a dinner with my classmates and it was a buffet dinner. Although there were not much of food varieties but I like the a la carte menu. After the dinner, we went for a karaoke session instead of drinking session. It was my first time to see the ladies to sing in front of me. I was happy that my classmates celebrate my big day together even though it will be the last celebration together. I would to thanks to them for the great night and the gift. And also, I would like to thank those who wished me directly or indirectly. I slept 4 hours only during that night and I need to wake up early on the next morning. I had a laboratory session at 8am. I was so tired and exhausted. It was bad for health if sleep less than 7 hours. During the laboratory session, all of the students were arranged in to 6 groups by the lecturer. I was lucky during that time because I have group members that can do well. I was shocked that when my lecturer said that our report need to be handwritten. It was along time that I didn't write a report by using my own hand writing since my first year of studies. For the readers' information, my hand writing is really 'NICE'. We went to a junction road near to our college building. We need to count the vehicles that pass by the road including those who are cycling for an hour with four interval times. A lot of students looked at us when they drove their cars passed by an wondering what were we doing on the road. Some of them were joking that we were punished by the lecturers for not doing our assignments. It was a good experience for me to learn new things on this experiment and I was lucky because it was a cloudy day for me and the weather was not too hot. My group was the last group to finished the experiment. I think time management is really important and I hope that my group can finish the experiments on time for the next laboratory session. I had less than 40 minutes to have my lunch. The food quality of my university's food court does not improve. Now, I only buy the food to eat from a vegetarian stall because I believe that the stall is the most cleanest among the other stalls. I felt so tired after the whole day of class but I didn't sleep straight away. I started to worry about how to write a good project proposal. I slept early due to tiredness after my dinner. Suddenly, I received a call from a junior. It was a morning call for me during the night time. I almost get angry about it. But luckily I managed to control my temper. I should switch off my phone when I sleep but I have a habit now that I won't switch it off. Thanks to my previous working manager that told me that we should on our phone 24 hours per day unless we are on holiday. =.= Last Wednesday, I had my first class at 11am. Now is the third week of my studies and I still don't have a text book to use for this class. It was bad luck for me because the bookshop is currently out of stock for the book I want and I need to wait until the end of this month for the new arrival books. I have another option which is to photostat the book or borrow the book from the library. I don't like to have a photostat book to study and when I reserve the book from the library to borrow, I couldn't get it because there was a system error occurred and it was really pissed me off. My classmates searched the book at some of the other universities' book shops but they couldn't find it. Now, I need to write my own notes during the class time and it was quite suffering when the lecture speak too fast. I hope I can get the book soon because my first test will be on the end of this month. After the class, I went to library to find some books for my project to refer. I need to start to love to read books and journals because it will help me to do my projects. I realized that my library books are not up to date. A lot of old books. I am not sure that the old books can help me or not. I scared there are a lot of changes for the technology. I went for the last class of the class and I would like to express that I hate the class so much. The lecturer was not prepared to teach the class and blame the notes that are not good to be used. If the lecturer knows that the notes are not good, then why the lecturer should use it now? I missed my old lecturer who taught me this subject before. Now I need to count on my own to study. I need to find other sources to understand the subject. Next day, I went to Putrajaya with my classmate, to submit a letter to an agency for a class site visit. I was bored to become a class representative. I want to have a rest for being a class leader. Meanwhile, the world is mourning about the death of Steve Jobs, a well-known entrepreneur which created the Apple and iPhone. His life should be an example for the new generation because his life was not an easy life to live. My last class finished at 6pm. I had to prepare for the AGM for the chapter that I lead for the past one year. It was relieved that I managed to maintain the legacy of the chapter during my tenure. It was happy and sad moment when I lead the chapter. I learnt a lot from bad to good things. During the AGM, it was quite messy because the classroom that we wanted to use was being occupied by other people and we need to wait for the class to end before we can do our preparation. There was no PA system at that time. But in the end, the AGM organized well. I was happy the alumnus were back to supported the event and also I saw some of new students who supported the event. Now, I am officially retired. Thanks to the EBs for being with me for the past 1 year. I really appreciate their hard work. Good luck to the new EBs. I think I will miss it. But the main thing is, I was free from active in co-curriculum anymore in my university. Yesterday, I need to meet my supervisor back with my other classmates who do their project under the supervisor. I can feel the pressure is getting higher. Most probably, I need to go to a place to get the material on next week with my classmate and need to start to do the laboratory testing. I hope I manage to come back on time before my seniors' convocation day. I am on my own now. I need to do the testing by myself. I hope it goes well. After a briefing on how to write a thesis, I fall sick. Thanks to my careless, I forgot to bring my umbrella when I went to the laboratory during the lunch hour time. It was raining and I got wet. Luckily I have paracetamols with me. I just recovered today. I need to take care of myself for the eight months of war. I haven't finish my project proposal yet. It was 3% done only and the due date of submission will be on next Friday. I hope I can finish it on time. I think I don't have much time to write my blog already. I will try to write if I am free.

Happy October!

Nevermind I'll find someone like you~

President of UNITEN ICE Student Chapter 2010/2011 AGM 2011 Speech

(Done by aMiR & Edited by YZ)

Thank you Master of Ceremony.

"Civil Engineers are at the heart of society, delivering sustainable development through knowledge, skills and professional expertise"

A very good evening to our beloved UNITEN ICE Student Chapter’s Advisor, Dr. Chua Kok Hua; our new Advisor, Ms. Ean Lee Woen; President of the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus ICE Student Chapter, Mr. Allen Ang Ming Jih; my comrades UNITEN ICE Student Chapter Executive Board Members (EBs) 2010/2011; new Executive Board Members 2011/2012; Fellow Members; Ladies and Gentlemen.

It is an honour for me as the representative of the UNITEN ICE Student Chapter to welcome you to our AGM 2011 today. UNITEN ICE Student Chapter has gone through 3 years after its establishment on 19 September 2008 and we are still proud to become the first Student Chapter in Malaysia. The Student Chapter has organized various activities for the past 3 years such as ICE Exhibition, Green Camp, Green Awareness Campaign & Site Visits and we managed to reach our main objective which is to let the students enhance their communication skill and deepen their knowledge in the civil engineering field. And also, the number of members in our Student Chapter has increased to 302 members, compared to last year which was 200 members. With the support from the members, our Student Chapter managed to become one of the most active academic clubs in UNITEN for the term 2010/2011.

To this, I would like to thank to Dr Ooi Teik Aun, ICE Country Representative for Malaysia for his endless support throughout our 2010/2011 term. Even though he is unable to attend our AGM today due to his health problem, we still can feel his presence in our AGM and hope that he will recover as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, I would like to represent the EBs to thank our beloved advisor, Dr. Chua, for helping us throughout our term. I still remember that he was willing to spend his time even though after the working hour with us, to discuss about some of our activities in his office. Furthermore, from time to time, he managed to pull a few strings to make sure that our activities would run smoothly and that is something we are grateful for. Today is his last day being our advisor because he has to leave the student chapter to focus on his research projects. Thank you Sir and I would like to wish you all the best on your research.

To Ms. Ean, I would like to thank you for accepting our invitation to become our new Advisor. With your knowledge and experience on civil engineering and co-curriculum activities, I am confident that our Student Chapter will improve more in the future.

Next, I would like to thank Immediate Past President, Vice President, Mr. Chow Tze Liang & Ms. Liyana Karim, and seniors for giving me some good advice when I lead the Student Chapter. Despite being final year students at that time, they supported our activities for the term 2010/2011. I really appreciate their advice, help and support.

To my comrades EBs, I’m serious and I’m not joking. Throughout our 1 year term together we braved the fair and stormy weather. The good and bad times, we’ve been through them all. It was excitement, enjoyment, hardship and craziness mixed together and I am happy that we managed to bring our Student Chapter to become a famous club in our university. I really appreciate your hard work and I wish all the best for your studies in the future.

As for the new EBs 2011/2012, I would like to congratulate you for your appointment. You are the new leaders for our Student Chapter. You are chosen based on your honesty, credibility, strength and potential. Become an EB is neither easy nor hard. Do not afraid to try. It’s better to try and fail than failing to try at all. Learn from the mistakes! Don’t keep yourself in a cage and alienate yourself away from others. Come out and have fun learning. By learning, you will be more mature and ready for the future! I hope that the new EBs will do much better than the previous EBs and I wish you the best of luck.

Lastly, I would like to thank to Fellow Members who supported us in 2010/2011 term. I hope you will continue to support the Student Chapter during your studies and gain more knowledge from the activities organized by the Student Chapter. Now, I would like to invite our outgoing Advisor, Dr. Chua, to give his speech. Thank you very much.
